What is Lightning Retardant CableTM?
Lightning Retardant Cable (LRC) is a new type of cable designed exclusively to address lightning. The new patented product, developed with the assistance of NASA-STAC, should offer consumers up to 700% improvement over current types of cable.

This new cable is currently available in upgrade kits so that consumers may simply install it in place of their existing cables. The upgrade kits come complete with all connectors installed, hardware and instructions.

How Does It Work

Lightning Retardant Cable works by creating a blockage to lightning. This encourages a lightning strike to go down a proper ground instead of your coax cable. Figure one shows a lightning strike striking a DSS Satellite dish. Note, once lightning has struck the dish it is equally split between the ground wire and the coax cable running into your home. As you can see, even though your system is grounded you will still receive a major portion of a lightning strike.

Figure 2 shows Lightning Retardant Cable in place of the standard coax. Now you can see that the Lightning Retardant Cable establishes a high impedence block to the lightning strike. This block dissipates the lightning energy as it runs down the cable and therefore encourages the lightning strike to go down the ground wire instead of coming into your home.

Lightning Retardant Cable should always be used with proper grounds according to the NEC code. Go to ordering page to order your LRC Upgrade Kit.

LRC was 100% successful in 5 years of field testing.
