What is Lightning Retardant CableTM? |
| How Does It Work Lightning Retardant Cable works by creating a blockage to lightning. This encourages a lightning strike to go down a proper ground instead of your coax cable. Figure one shows a lightning strike striking a DSS Satellite dish. Note, once lightning has struck the dish it is equally split between the ground wire and the coax cable running into your home. As you can see, even though your system is grounded you will still receive a major portion of a lightning strike. |

Figure 2 shows Lightning Retardant Cable in place of the standard coax. Now you can see that the Lightning Retardant Cable establishes a high impedence block to the lightning strike. This block dissipates the lightning energy as it runs down the cable and therefore encourages the lightning strike to go down the ground wire instead of coming into your home.
Lightning Retardant Cable should always be used with proper grounds according to the NEC code. Go to ordering page to order your LRC Upgrade Kit. |
